Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.
Black & White Challenge Map from March 12. I used hand-drawn elements that were scanned in and edited in Photoshop 7.
Hello rpgmapmaker. My name is Jim and I am representing Central Washington University's anthropology museum. I am interested in using your work in our newest exhibit on fantasy maps. I apologize for the unorthodox method of contact but I can't seem to find another way. Essentially my colleagues and I were given three weeks to design and setup an exhibit on fantasy maps. Copyright law prevents us from using published works without permission and our time frame is so short that this is near impossible. However, I was referred to this site and saw your work and was immediately intrigued. I would like to put your work into our exhibit. If you are interested please contact me at grandonjr@hotmail.com Once again I apologize for the unorthodox approach and I hope to hear from you. Thank you, Jim Grandon grandonjr@hotmail.com
