• News and Updates

    Greetings, mappers!

After a long hiatus, the Guild news page is returning. From now on, there will be frequent updates with information about challenges, site news and awards, so check back often to keep up to date.

Here are a few things going on right now.

    October Challenge
The main monthly challenge for October was "Inverse Mapping." Participants selected a map they had previously created and inverted it, so that sea became land etc. This challenge has now closed and voting has commenced. View the thumbnails for each entry here and vote for your favourites here.

    Social Media accounts
You may not be aware, but the Guild has Facebook and Twitter accounts, and these have also reactivated recently. Links are below:

    Facebook
    Twitter

If you're on Facebook or Twitter, please Like/Follow us. These accounts will be the best place for news if there should be any site issues or outages. Speaking of which...

    Server Upgrade
Our host expects to migrate us to a new server early next week (week of Nov 2). The date/time isn't finalised yet, but we'll update here and via Facebook/Twitter once we receive more precise information. There should be little interruption in service (hopefully) apart from the Search feature, which might need more work. We'll post more information on this as we have it.

    Finances
After a recent post from Robbie, members have stepped up magnificently to help with the site's finances. On behalf of Robbie, thank you to everyone who donated. It's the forum members who make the Guild what it is, and all contributions, whether big or small, are gratefully received. We're considering a couple of options to help put the site on a firmer financial footing, and we'll post more details on those soon.

So, to wrap things up, expect more frequent news and updates going forward, and thanks for reading. Happy Mapping!
