The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Biography:: I didn't even know about role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons until around 2 years ago. At the time, it seemed like the furthest thing from fun. However, I'm proud to say I've not only participated in several campaigns since then, but have started work on creating them as well. I've gotten into other RPGs and some fantasy boardgames as well, but for the purposes of D&D I have created a crude world map of a planet I expect to yield many a grand adventure and which has led me here, to the CG.

I am in every sense a newbie in rpg map making. If any hobbyists have daily exercises they like to do to help get the creative juices flowing, I would appreciate you letting me in on your secrets. I plan to keep a drawing notebook for sketches but outside of that, I'm looking for ways to make this a more permanent hobby.
