The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Biography:: Like many people here in the guild, I grew up with a lasting desire to explore and emulate the worlds of my favorite stories. My father introduced me to Narnia when I began to read well. Suburbia holds little adventure for an 8 year old, surrounded by cookie-cutter houses and tall gates that block out the world beyond... Narnia sounded like the perfect place to escape. With passing years my favorite books changed and my collection grew. Over time I discovered that these stories persisted in my mind because they had whole worlds that could be explored. After graduating High School I thumbed through dozens of old notebooks and binders to collect all the hand drawn maps and short stories to begin making something with them. I came to the guild to share my progress and learn how to improve this amazing craft.
