Question on furnishings

Does anyone have any experience with place-able items? Having a variety of beds, dressers, couches, household items on hand with blank outlines of buildings as opposed to having them included in the grid outline itself? Apparently this can help reduce the cost of commission'd building layouts, but I've never even thought to use something like this, or how I'd go about getting a variety of items. Can anyone shed some light? Fantasy setting btw.
