Default world map with only blender

Here is my first map here. It is a world map, icosahedron style, made with blender.
I simply unwrapped an icosahedron to get the UV map as a unfolded icosahedron for use as a planet map. I think used a series of different procedural noise textures to make the map and colored it with the color ramps. This one is mainly clouds but I also experimented a bit with using voronoi crackle to simulate tectonic plates. I wanted to see if there was a correlation between those and the other forms of noise if they all used the same or closely similar parameters.
I think this method shows promise.

Here is the untouched UV map exactly as baked within blender. ( well..I did resize it..the original was 2048x1024 )

I like how you did the water around the land. Nice effect.

did you projection paint the sphere with tiled land/water textures?
have you tried the same thing with an ico-sphere instead?
