Default Aberdeen – fantasy map commission

    Hello,

This black and white map was commissioned by writer Austin Bailey for his upcoming book The Mage and the Magpie due to be released in May 2015, depicting the world for the story and it's six major cities. All done by hand except for labeling and some editing that was done in PS.

Feedback and comments are much appreciated

    Cheers,
    Tainotim

I really like the details you added! All the city icons are so cool, I love the compass, and the little added birds around some of the cities... Awesome! The only thing I would say about this map is I think the outer glow around the text is a little strong I would soften it just a little. Fantastic work!

Great map Tainotim! The cities and this big crack in the north are awesome. I'm curious about the story of Ninebridge!

Thanks a lot! Ilanthar: the commissioner allowed me to read a excerpt where the protagonist first see the city, and it was actually quite neat – and well written. However, don't know how much I'm allowed to say about it without consent. Drawing it was definitely a interesting learning experience when it comes to difficult perspectives!

Looks great Tainotim! I like those zoomed in circle inserts of a location.

It reminds me a lot of what Wired did with his recent map

    A neat and elegant map.
I love the pure and refined simplicity of mountains, forests and compass.
    The city insets are superb.
    Well done!
