Map First Map, maybe some pointers?

So this is my first attempt of trying to map my game world out. It is definitely a work in progress was just wondering what you guys thought. Maybe even some ideas from the group. Thanks for looking.

I like the art style you're using. It has a fun hand drawn feel.

That said, I think the first things that stick out a bit would be the river courses that are fairly unrealistic (rivers splitting, going through mtn ranges, flowing away from coasts) and the overall barren feel to the landmass (of course, that could just be the case while this is a WiP).

    This looks wonderful Xaio!

The mountains and trees are beautiful. I like the background texture but wonder if it could be faded slightly to allow your awesome mountains to stand out more? I'm a novice so I wouldn't take my word for it.

Thank you for the worlds. Yes I was wondering about the rivers but haven't quite made it to the point that I really understand how to convey actual routes or how they should run just yet. Also this is just a first draft to see if I should start over. So as I populate the world more the barren look will hopefully go away. Also this place is a massive massive land is the city size good or should I make it smaller?

There are a few great threads on river placement and courses, but the basic thing to remember is that water always flows downhill with gravity along the path of least resistance. Think about the topography and elevation of your landmass and use that accordingly.

Also, picture a tree when thinking of a river system. The small branches at the top of the tree would be your smaller tributaries that flow into larger rivers as they work toward the "trunk" of the tree, which would be your main waterway that flows down to the "ground" or coast.

If the landmass is massive, perhaps a continent, then I think I'd make the cities smaller to place more of them or to give the look of vast openness.

No problem! I'm thrilled I could be of assistance.
