Help First ever map (and drawing for the most part). Looking for some CC please!

    Hey Friends,

Ive just completed my first ever map and am hoping to use it for a table top game in the future. absolutely any feedback is appreciated on both the land layout portion and general tips on improving drawing. The island itself does not have a name yet but is part of larger archipelago that I am hoping to create someday.

    Thank you!

Next time, I suggest getting a nice clean, flat sheet of paper with no lab notebook details on it. It also appears that you've used pencil. Lightly penciling in and then finishing in ink will generally produce a nicer result (especially if want to scan or photograph it). Otherwise, just practice, practice, practice. Your mountains aren't doing anything odd. The river system is acceptable (a big plus for a first map; river errors are very common). The symbology seems clear. The coastlines are nicely shaped (though I think the double line on the coast is a bit much for a map otherwise pretty simple). So, overall it's a fine first go, but you did yourself no favors with your choice of materials.

Thank you for the feedback! I agree the material was less than desirable and especially the mechanical pencil made it difficult. Ill definitely be switching to better paper next time! The coast is something I kind of struggled with deciding on. I think next time ill try without the double line and just ripples to see how that goes.

    Thank you again!
