Weird Europe

Time for another map.

This time, we find ourselves in familiar territory... or?
Yeah, so, it's more of the strange naming conventions that spring from the recesses of my peculiar mind. This time, splattered across the Old World.
But what then, are the Filth-Lords? And what is life like living in an Aetherdom? And how does one worship a grudge, exactly? You know better than me.

A bit of cutting and tweaking the lovely work of the Central Intelligence Agency, from shadedreliefarchive.com. Great resource. A bit of grunge layering. Some googling for cool stuff like border art, compass rose, wave texture, etc. Work, rework, trial and error, until you like what you have.
And done.

That's a fantastic map. As Zhar says, the sea texture looks great.

The names seem mostly to be very alien, but have slight hints of familiarity to them; it makes me think this map could be of a far-future post-apocalyptic Earth, or alternatively a distorted mirror image of Europe, perhaps the land of the dead/disfigured...

Cool stuff! I really dig all those cool subtitles to the country names. Very inspirational! The only thing i'd wish for, is that you had changed the continental shapes as well...a truly other/weird Europe...but maybe that's just me

Yup, very cool map again (I must confess that Vercyngitorex made me laugh )! You have you very unique and beautiful style. As usual with your maps, I love the names (Isle of the dreaming dead, that's promising!). The mountains are awesome too.

www.shadedreliefarchive.com, cut and paste which sections you like to fit your landmass/etc, probably downsize (most images are >5000x5000 px), set layer mode to overlay/soft light/whatever, tweak settings to your liking, done.
