Post Terrain tool in 3d Studio Max

I was just reading through my 3ds max manual...I'm always finding new things in it...and I've never really associated 3d studio much with mapping...until now...There's a tool thats built in called Terrain...it takes contour data and converts it into a 3d mesh easily. I'm going to experiment with it now, so expect screenshots and files...

In the meantime...has anyone considered using something like this in the past? I'm going to try and come up with an easy workflow to convert cc2 contours into 3ds max contours.

John Csaky has done it quite a bit using Bryce. I'm just now getting to the point of experimenting with it as well. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with.

I have 3ds Max as well, but don't know it nearly as well, and that isn't saying much either.

    Post okay....?

Okay, Robbie... It's been a full calendar year since that promised update of 3DS-Max's use in terrain mapping... How about it? Is it useful? What about those screenshots? Let's get on the ball here Quit messing around with real life and get to the important stuff, will you?

Hahaha! I kinda stopped working on this when I did my map without using fractal terrains...no need for it anymore, so it slipped off the radar...I'll get on it though!

I'd love to learn more about this, but I doubt I'll be getting 3d max anytime soon as my budget just wouldn't justify it. If only 3d Max wasn't so expensive...!
