Default [WIP] Kalkas Bentum, Capital of the Bentis Empire

Highly inspired by a2area's awesome hand-drawn Schwari city map, I present to you another in a long line of WIP projects that I will probably never get finished:

Kalkas Bentum, jewel of the Bentis Empire.

The city map is a version of a city from my previous map, Dreodae. I have changed the contours of the land, to simplify things a bit, and I changed the name of the city to reflect this. Like I said, the map is inspired by the incredible Schwari map, but this is done exclusively in PhotoShop, because, well, I'm way too lazy to sketch that many streets and buildings by hand.

The roads are done with simple straight lines and a few curving paths and the buildings are done using this great tutorial, with a few tweaks.

The map is far from done, as I need to add and redo a bunch more roads and buildings, put in some labeling and other stuff. I'm thinking of coloring each district to give the map a bit of character, but then again, I might not.

Here's to finally getting this one done. Now speak!

Wow, now that's a city. Nice work.

You mean the scale or just the city?

I think he's talkin about image size...he and I are pretty detail oriented people so we like to see every little nook n cranny up close and personal

Hmm, I could make it bigger, but I don't know how I would scale it up, short of completely redoing all the roads. Since it's raster, the lines would become too blurry. Unless you have some technique that I don't know about.

Looks pretty darn good I think. It looks like a pretty realistic, huge city. So how much time did it cost you to get this far?

Just the resolution/size of the image.
