Looks like a good start.

Good start! I agree, I like the shape. Really like the name as well
Looking forward to seeing it develop.

thanks! The name is from a song by The Violet Burning, so i cant take full credit for that.
anyways, heres the basic regions/mountains. Will start on blending the regions and making the mountains realistic next
I really like the shapes in this map. There are a few 'dot-islands' here and there, but that might be because the images you uploaded are smaller than the resolution you're working at? Either way, this looks promising ^.^

yah, just because of the way I make the coastlines, it has that affect on both the water, which is pretty easiliy dealt with; and the land, which requires every dot to be manually erased.
Alright, so I've added textures now and a shallow continental shelf, which will have to be removed when I do the rivers. once the rivers and mountains are done, i'll work on the ocean.
This is really coming along. And I hear you about the islands - I spent quite a while manually clearing islands, stray lines, and oddly placed lakes from my world map (way huge file too ... o.o ) That base texture your using is great, and the colors are fantastic. Personally, the outer glow is a bit too cyan (as opposed to the blue of the actual ocean color) but you mentioned you'll be working on that later ^.^

thx!
heres the physical map, with oceans, rivers, and mountains. Now I just have to figure whether I should add political borders, and if so, how.
