    Default Lego Spaceships

Okay these aren't maps. But I (re-)discovered the Lego Digital Designer a week ago, and I am having a blast putting together virtual Lego models. Plus, you now could actually order boxes of your custom models! These are fairly basic, no comparison to some of the stuff out there, but I felt like posting anyway - Hope tat's alright.

hehe nice ... lego has gone so far since I was a child. I recently gave my old legos to my kids and realized that it was very simple in comparison to the new stuff... but, they got a lot of basic blocks so... oh, and if any of you haven't seen it, be sure to check out (if possible) James May's tv shows on big toys, in one of them he builds a real house out of legos.

I was playing around with the lego designer for awhile, I actually tried using it to make a map

That gives me an idea, maybe I'll try using it to design a regional map...

These are really cool. Haven't ever played with the software...*but* I have LOTS of Lego! Might try making some ships someday.

Thanks! -- and I envy you guys for having lego bricks. My family's bricks are with my sister, she is the only of the three of us who has a kid. We had three big boxes full of Legos.

I am having so much fun though, I am VERY tempted to go on a Lego buying rampage. Good thing they are so effing expensive.

Also, as for Lego maps, check this out - I call it Brick beach:

I tried the software years ago, but was not happy with it. There are better ways for creating Lego sets or own models on a computer.

    Really? Such as?

And the LDD was crap years ago, yeah. Seems pretty nice now.

The one cool feature is - it seems you can use it to create your custom set and then actually order it from Lego... complete with box design with screenie on it etc.

I used LDraw in combination with MLCad years ago for "quick bricking" and PovRay with Anton Raves Lego library for renders and animations. You can see some results on my old homepage.

Damn you Katto, there go my next afternoons. How am I supposed to resist Lego and Povray combined?

The Designer is a funny tool, I`ve also designed some stuff with it. I made a special set of F1 cars for my little brother as personalized present

Not the best programm but it was still some fun
