Thread: Myanmar-Thai Borderland

    Default Myanmar-Thai Borderland

As a follow up on the previous maps I made on Thailand, again for some academic work my girlfriend's been toiling on, I made a new map reflecting an aspect of her research. The maps' trying to show the way in which the borderlands between Myanmar and Thailand (mostly mountain areas) are harder to control for either state. There much migration (refugees), guerrilla and illegal trade is taking place. It was quite hard to show this and maintaining the geography at the same time. Perhaps an abstract map (more schematic, less geographic) would have shown this better, but geography was quite relevant too and we chose for this instead (besides there was a deadline approaching, so a choice had to be made).

    Hope you like it.

we don't get to see a lot of real world map making on this forum, and this looks great! I like the use of color and patterns. very much what i'd expect from a well illustrated school book. thanks so much for sharing.

Yes, this is very nice indeed. It does a wonderful job of conveying the necessary information. Have some rep!
