    The Mississippi spits out a minor river about 100 miles from the coast, and it looks like the Nile's delta starts about that distance, also, though I am not sure how much of that is due to manmade irrigation.

    Actually, it looks like that offshoot from the Mississippi might be man-made, as well.

    The Volga River's delta begins about 50 miles from the coast of the Caspian Sea.
