Anyone?
I think I figured out the mountain texture (finally) + the color scheme.
Please let me know what you think:

P.S. I took off rivers so only mountains, hills, plains and lakes

Anyone?
Nice Mountains! Overall that's a promising setup for a realistic/satellite map.
One thing though: imo it seems a little bright, the snow on the mountainstops is almost blinding me!
Where are you going with this? Is this just a test for a bigger project? Or is that already a local map for something?
Thanks for a respond
I was going to overlay a paper texture to make it a bit darker but point taken.
I was going to do a whole continent but had lots of problems with making mountains and forests realistic. I didn't want to post the whole thing as it is waaay too big and I'm just about to finish the forests and have not gotten to cities and such yet.
What do you think of the hill textures? Do they match the overall style of mountain ranges?
I admit that I don't really like the white of the of the hills.
The mountains are nice but at some places I think the shadow should be more progressive, fading as it move away from them.
Do you mean the white glare on the hills?
I'm not sure what you mean about the shadows. It's an overlook style with a single overhead light source not a side light. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you mean.
I agree with Azelor. The mountain shadows especially of the NW mountains seem a bit strong. Also, the hills, though the general shape is nice, glisten as if they were wet. Might be because of your lighting technique. I recommend the lighting effects as found in the revised Atlas maps tut by Kindari.
