Really, a quite beautiful map. Those jungles did turn out nicely. I like the way you did the glaciers too.
Another finished map without a WIP thread This one was a personal commission for a role playing group, they wanted a black/white/red thing without labels and decorations, in the style of my "Exculta Mundi et Notum Partes (…)" map. I've never actually made a black/white map before, so it was quite interesting to have to come up with other ways than color to represent different terrain types. I'm especially happy with the jungles in the south, if I may say so myself
Ink on A3, with roads and icons added digitally.

Well done. It reminds me slightly of Fondstads Maps of middle earth.
Nice to see different approaches by you. Most Time i think in B/W and color later on.
Thanks! That's interesting, SK; do you make something like a value sketch before you start coloring? For me, colors usually come first, I get a very fuzzy image in my head with only blocks of color, then I add the details to that. It's always fun to hear about other approaches to try out
My Left Eye is damaged, so i use to have problems in seeing Colors properly. Therefore I have only start using colors since I have a Graphic Tablet and Photoshop. I think in values first yes, color is sonething secundary in my imagination. Well exept Red maybe.
Sorry to hear about your eye problem But I must say it makes your maps even more impressive, which I didn't even think was possible.
Dont needt to. I am used to that eye, you know
I just want to say that I think this is fantastic. I particularly like your handling of forests, and noticed the "transitional forests" in the mid-northern latitudes which are deciduous in the south and transition into evergreen in the north. Very nicely done. I guess you do this in pencil and then ink over it?
Thanks, Nose Goblin! It's pencil first, yes. I'm not brave enough to do it any other way
Nice one Lingon.
