Hello icemaneli186, Welcome to the Guild!
Nice map, especially for a first post!! I'll look forward to seeing where you take this
Hi all, I'm new to this forum (well first post anyway) so hopefully I've posted this in the correct thread. This is a map I started yesterday to illustrate the climbing history of an area in the Southern Alps of New Zealand (Mt Whitcombe/Evans sort of area). Just using it as a small test piece before I go on to anything bigger. Currently the base map is predominantly done and at the stage of now needing route information applied. Ill post any further developments as they happen.

I agree with Chick, and welcome as well.
We don't get to see many maps done with contours.
I am a big fan of them myself and glad you posted this.
Hope to see more like it. Cheers,
John

Oh, now that is really great! Welcome to the Guild.
Welcome!
Nice map. I love the grungy parchment! Can I ask how you did the contours?

Thanks for the compliments everyone. For the contours originally I tried using a shapefile exported from arcgis but I didn't like the look (too mechanical), so I ended up just tracing every hundred meter interval. Didn't take too long but I certainly wouldn't do it on anything bigger.
Wow, well done! They look good. And yeah, a bigger map could quickly become overwhelming!

Great start, I love the contour lines! I'm looking forward to see more.
Very nice!
I am a big fan of contours, even though they can become a little painful if they're too much. I say this due to my own previous experience.
