Nowhere near Highlander's level, admittedly. Absolutely horrible with texturing or anything beyond the basics. Would love to learn and improve.

So, ah, hello and all that. Yeah.

Another one! They're coming in droves!

Welcome to the site. No problem - visit our tutorials forums, I'm sure there's at least one tutorial with the software you use in there. Many of the tut's can be cross-referenced to your software, even if not the same. GIMP tuts for Photoshop maps, for example.

I think the main reason for the Alt. History influx is that the forums we go to have a single, well-visited map thread for the entire forums. The main issue with the lot of us is that we figured out a good core group of base maps and Unified Color Scheme for manipulation, so now practically anyone can open up paint, modify a few borders, change a few provincial colors to mark changes in rule, and have a map done in five minutes. It's made things easy enough that creativity in mapmaking simply isn't needed half the time if you want to convey a new idea.

We really need to fix this.

Admittedly the quality has slipped slightly since a certain member was banned, but still, don't underestimate the talent there.

Certainly there's plenty of gems, but the UCS and repetition of base maps has made the mass-production of not-quite-so-good maps fairly easy to do.
