Wip Cadwyn - Campaign World Map WIP

I've been running a D&D campaign since 1978. We've taken time off (sometimes years), but 3 of the original players still play in it (one of whom ended up marrying my sister!). I stopped DMing it a couple of years ago when I began traveling heavily for work, but with 4th ED coming out, it has me wanting to kick it off again (it's been a 2nd edition campaign, but we never made the move to 3/3.5).

I drew this map when I was 15. It has served me well since, but I want to re-imagine the world a bit. I'm moving it 500 years into the future from the last time they played in it, and I'm going to re-scale everything to make it much larger.

I'm going to start with some smaller pieces of it, I haven't done anything really with CC3 yet, so this is going to be a good learning opportunity.

Well, so much for starting with smaller pieces. I'm a little over a month out from the first session, and my wife is writing a 20-page paper for school this weekend, so I spent a good chunk of the weekend working. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to add text tonight or not.

I don't think I like the bevel on the border.

All I can say is..."That is really sweet"! Nice job, man.

    A beautiful CC3 map indeed!

Very nice, and I don't think the bevel on the border hurts it at all, in fact it's really not all that noticeable.

Thanks all! Just for fun, for the non-CC3 people, this is what the base map looks like in CC3 before I turned the effects on and exported it to Photoshop (where I added all the border elements, plus did some post-processing).

Got rid of the bevel, added a soft inset shadow instead.

    Made my rivers blue again.

Replaced some distorted symbols that didn't make it through the original brush filter for the cartoon look.

    Added top text.

This is beautiful work indeed! I love the way how you used the different symbols to create different looking regions. Like the colorful trees on the big southern island.

And wow, your map frame rocks. Those dragons are so cool.

    Repped!

Thanks! I seem to have lost my dragon dropshadows somewhere along the line, I'll have to fix that.
