    Post WIP: Guadalcanal

    Done for fun and practice.
This is a map of the island of Guadalcanal, one of the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. In 1942 US Marines landed and captured the Japanese airfield on Guadalcanal. For months the Marines held their ground while the US Navy struggled to keep them supplied and keep Japanese reinforcements off the island. Dozens of ships were sunk in a series of battles in Sealark Sound, which was eventually renamed Ironbottom Sound. The Marines were relieved in 1943 by units of the US Army.

What I have so far is the location of sunken ships in the sound and the positions of Marine and Japanese Army troops in September of '42.

Cool map overall. The one thing that I would say is that the anchor for the U.S. ships is a little hard to see.

Yep that gold color is hard to see, I'd brighten it up a bit or maybe put a stroke around it. Nice though.

Neat map... just wondering if you intentionally left the land slightly blurred?

I was wondering why the map looked so familiar!

I was thinking about that all day long at work. I think I'm going to remove most of the effects and see if it still looks good.

Changed the anchor to a 5 point star. Went from blurs to strokes.

I like the non-blur much better.
