Yes! I have the ideas falling out of my head as I click "vote"...
No. Yawntastic.
Soylent Green is people....
Okay, I've noticed a couple of ideas around and they seem to have an underlying idea - Trading.
Trade is what has made and broken empires. It is the thing which has made people travel rediculously long distances... Marco Polo anyone? The Silk Road? The Dutch East India Company? South America???
So I want to kick out the idea of a map challenge that relates to TRADING.
Ancient Ideas
Map of Empires (e.g. Early Greece and the Mediterranean trading)
Sailor's Map (e.g. How do you get from Rome to Constantinople by boat without running aground?)
Medieval Ideas
Commodities trading across the seas
The Silk Road
"Maps of the Orient"/Explorer's Maps
Modern Maps
Supply Chain Map
International Trading Map
Futuristic Maps
Star System Resourcing
Interstellar commodity trading
etc,etc,etc...
Had to vote "Yes" even though I'm retired from challenges...

Agree.
Gameprinter is retired from challenges.
Oh,
The theme is a good idea too. Very good idea.
Optionally you could expand the challenge.
'Trade has shaped and built our modern world. It has helped create the real wealth of developed countries since there have been markets and currency.'
"Develop a map that focuses on trade and or trading factions. Alternately, pick a faction (could be a company, a county etc...) and present a couple of maps that detail the factions trading interests through different viewpoints or locals."
- Might be the exploits of a pirate voyage or trade voyage.
- Might be an exploration on a new frontier and what can be bought where.
- Might be the trade centers of a far flung land.
- Might detail the wealth of a decadent empire...
- might.....

Dollhouse Syndrome = The temptation to turn a map into a picture, obscuring the goal of the image with the appeal of cute, or simply available, parts. Maps have clarity through simplification.

Sigurd, that's actually part of the idea in my head that maybe didn't make it to the post...
I think the core idea is: Trading shapes, makes and breaks empires...
I like it and this will definitely be the theme of a future challenge (Lite or Expert).
