    It shows the layers below it as pure black and white depending on the brightness of the colors. You can set the threshold of the brightness where they get separated.

    You can insert a Threshold Adjustment Layer with Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Threshold...

    That's looking very cool. I like how the under-sea textures are kind of subtle. The land forms really pop.
