I like the version with trunks best but either way looks cool.

    I like trunks too.

You might try either lightening the trunks, darkening the forest outline, or adding some shadow. Its subtle and people may well disagree, but I think the trunks stand out a little bit too much.

    Thanks,

I wondered if the trunks were too dark. I'll try lightening them up a bit when I go add more in.

I'm going to show you three versions that I did this afternoon.
I have a black and white, a colorized version and a parchment background version.

    Whattya think?

Now I have to decide which version I'm gonna run 2 copies out on my plotter and mount to my office wall and my home study wall

Wow, you certainly have been busy!
I prefer the second... I like colors
The first is my second favorite and the third comes last. I don't really like the brown look.

My 2 cents is that you need more tree trunks, also make em a lil longer but thinner. I'd vote for the third if you went to far as to add a vast amount of labeling and colors for borders and some antique effects (like stains, rips, burns, etc.)

I think I'm in agreement with Gandwarf - coloured first, then the white one.

    They all look great though.

Though I like the b&W one the best, if you're going to print, mount and hang one Id go with the colored one.

To me the third seems incomplete, almost bland in a way - though if you followed some Ascension's suggestions about 'weathering' it I think it would "come to life".

Decided that with some weathering and tattering, the parchment map would make a nice player handout for an adventure hook, so this is what I wound up with
