    Wip Shalyeun Again

Trying something a little different with these lines. Maybe they ended up a little too blobby. I'm not going to keep those lines in the water, on second thought. I'm just enjoying the fact that they didn't go all straight and pixelly.

And working on my new brush set. Style mooched straight from Monster Hunter.* I liked some of the detailed map pieces and wanted to try out that interesting, highly-stylized Monster Hunter style. Definitely gotta put some monsters on the map. Maybe some emblems or heraldry in a similar style. Do you think trees like this will work or should I try something else?

*That's the best picture I could find. I have the artbook, and that map doesn't have labels on it.
North or south or east or west, where to point your shoes...?
    Which direction is the best?
If the choosing gets confusing, maybe it's the map you're using....

After messing with them for approximately a million years, I like the mountains and the trees, but I don't like them together. I really want to use the trees so after another million years thinking about how to make the mountains, I thiiiiink I've decided on a style. Now to figure out towns. I just made circly doodads for them but I like little buildings so maybe I'll make some...?

It's always tough to adjust your workflow to a new program but I really love drawing in Manga Studio. It's so smooth. <3

I did not go overboard making trees.

Those are some gorgeous mountains, too!
Though I really liked your initial version... but you are right: these trees and those mountains do not really work together.

Wow!! Your trees are amazing! And the mountains looks good too. It indeed matches better to the trees now.

Love your style SR. On your map the lines dont look too blobby when viewing at full scall, but it does a little when zoomed out to me. If you dont mind sharing, what technique are you using to make them?
    Cartography is fun.

I made a really huge, kind of rough brush and just blobbed the lines down. I used a tablet with pen pressure and just kind of flailed at it.

    ART!

After I disliked my own trees for weeks now, I feel the right mood to start drawing new ones. Thanks for beeing a huge inspiration here.
