The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

One of the major things I'd do is remove the nation colours and use lines to mark the borders instead (with the nation's colour on the edge of its side of the border, if that makes any sense. That's just me, though). If you're going to include a whole host of information on your map, you'll probably end up using a large amount of different lines, so be sure to have a clear distinction between borders, rivers, routes and so forth. A key would also be very helpful. For things like cities and whatnot, marker icons would be the logical choice. Finally, that map is pretty tiny. If you're going to include a lot of information, you'll want to make it at least about 2000 x 2000 pixels from the start.
