Flaming Pear makes a PS plugin that pops out planets and moons left and right. Well worth the investment if you do lots of planets.
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.

I recommend the Space Bundle, You would get 3 plug-ins for less than $60. And yes it is well worth the money (at least it was for me).

Photoshop is what I use ... I guess it really depends on what you are looking for and what you want to accomplish and what you are familiar with ... and how much you wanna pay for a program to do it with

you can google things like "how to create planets in INSERTYOURPROGRAMSNAMEHERE", or if your using something like GIMP, i have found different scripts that you can use that will make them for you, then u just have to give them color usually. The picture in my avatar was made like that, and then i used an online tutorial i came across to make it look like they were colliding (i actually kept switching between the original photoshop tutorial for it and the GIMP tutorial for it, and it ended up looking great)
