Hey there,
it's time for a new commission! The first brush strokes are already made, including some ships and a compass.
Well, many of you may know the site www.davidrumsey.com - if not, take a look at it, it's worth it! Lots of historical maps and other documents in high quality. There are also many images, from which you can conjure excellent patterns. But you should probably ask for permission, as I did. I got the permission and also the tip to create an account on the site, which allows me to download the files in really huge sizes by clicking on Export! That is simply magnificent!
That way the map became its paper margins.
The direction in which the style will go: hand drawn, watercolor, rough and weathered.
So, thats it for now. I will post regular updates here.
Size is 25%:

Always great to see a new Quabbe map. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks, guys!
I drew some mountains for the map today. A first experiment for the style turned out quite nice. I think I'll leave it that way.

Ooh, this looks very nice so far quabe! The mountains did turn out quite nicely as well. I will be keeping an eye on this one.

fVery cool. One suggestion is to make sure the middle transition light/dark ends a bit BELOW the plain of the two outlines to give it more of a 3D ISO look rather than a flat 2D painting look(unless thats what your specifically going for). For the most part, it looks like most of these are good.. but one or two of them might be on the "edge".
EDIT: Oh.. these are really nice BTW...good work.... repped..
