I was an utter mapping noobie when I joined the Guild and think I'm now about average. I have been to other sites (e.g. Sci-Fi Meshes) where the admins are just mindblowingly good at making 3d models of spaceships and the intimidation thing definitely works there. But here I think that the best mappers are not actually the CLs at all (IMHO)
So I'm always very happy to receive C&Cs...lol I can't believe anyone can seriously feel intimidated by my stuff!
