I'm not certain about the scale you're looking for: 25-30 nations is way smaller than Asia. For instance, Europe has over 40 countries, and probably had more than twice that many at some points during the Middle Ages. Even given a major desert, 25-30 countries would indicate something the size of Australia. Would the relative sizes of Australia, Greenland, and New Guinea work for the major islands?

I should clarify. Scale for # of nations isn't too important as nations can be big or small, but if I had to make a real world comparison, I guess the largest continent would be the size of Russia + China, while the other two would be roughly Australia and then Greenland sized by comparison.
