Wip Not a WIP, but a water texture for your Stargate

Here's a quick water texture I created using both a 3D app and Xara with a PS plug-in "Water Ripples" and a plasma transparency filter. You could use it to fill your Stargate.

Its a large image so you won't need to repeat the fill.

First of all, I highly approve of Stargate games!

If you're interested in being true to the movie and/or show, here are the glyphs that appear on Earth's Stargate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargat...ymbols_at_Giza

If you scroll down a bit, you can see the glyphs on the Atlantis gate.

Also, the "water" is more of a silvery-gray color. GamerPrinter's texture looks very nice, except for the color. I'm not sure if there in an analogue to it in Photoshop or the other graphic programs, but I once got very nice results from After Effects' Fractalize effect.

Wow. I really need to learn how to use PS

I actually am using different glyphs than the TV show for a reason (you might also notice that there are 40 glyphs instead of 37). The TV show is using constilations for the glyphs, and using them to triangulate a location. My co-ordinates act alot more like a phone number. The symbols on the gate are the symbols of the forty Emie who created the gate network, and who have been passing themselves off as Gods for several millenia.

I love all the suggestions. I'm going to put them to work this weekend and see if I can't polish these images into something that makes my players gasp. Thank's guys

    Info Silver water, huh?

Silvery colored event horizon, huh? Well, here's a slightly grayscaled version of my original image - is this better?

If the center were, well, centered, I would think it was perfect.

I feel I must say something... Forgive me please.

The chevrons on the stargate are evenly spaced, not crowded on top.

No forgiveness needed. You might also notice that the glyphs on my stargate differ from those on the official "Stargate". The system itself works differently as well. Also, my gate network was built by the false gods. Each of of the glyphs represents one of the gods that built the gate network (There are 40 of them, which is why there is 40 symbols instead of 37).

I did study the official "Stargate" before making this one, and decided what aspects of mine should be different for my story line.

Thank you for noticing the differences, though, and feel free to point any more out. They might not be purposeful changes
