I found this site while looking for some Inkscape tutorials, and I had no idea that map making was so popular. I've always loved maps, from "A Wizard of Earthsea" and LoTR to maps of cities I've visited. And don't get me started on Google Earth--I can spend all day playing with it.

I've been working on a Flash (Flex/Actionscript) program called City Walks; it has interactive maps that show photosets and videos, and play audio tracks. I've also created City Walks Composer that lets anyone create their own interactive maps--they only need a map, a start screen image, and media files.

I'm afraid this is sounding like an advert, but it's a work-in-progress and I'm looking for feedback. It's free software and runs under Adobe AIR, so it's cross platform.

And, oh yeah, I do create my own maps for my interactive tours--that's what the tutorials were for. I've been creating the maps in Gimp, but I've been wanting to learn Inkscape.

That's it, I'm off to go poke around the Forum!
