    Worse yet, in the northeast, a river runs ocean-to-ocean. In fact, it has five distinct ocean connections. It isn't even plausible as canals. I get the idea that the rivers may have been placed to justify the political borders.

    *NOW* do you see why I warned you about the River Police? These two aren't even official they're just bucking for a shield I think...imagine what happens when the real cops get here!

    (This post is entirely tongue-in-cheek if you couldn't tell. I'm just embarassed saddened that I'm so clueless about hydrology that I will never get a River Police badge of my very own.)

    Don't sweat it if you have some violations on your rivers. I think most of us had those when we started. As long as you are not hard wired to have those particular impossible rivers that are in question, you can fix them. Sometimes commissions come through that require a violation because it's a part of the world that's already been used or written about or whatever. Sometimes there are valid reasons for violations, usually man made canals or some other force being exerted to cause them. In most cases though we all have to answer to gravity and it is always easier to go with the flow

    yep rivers take some getting used to - I read the thread on placing your rivers before making my first map here - so no violations, but I still got critique of they were to straight for instance, but people say that to you so you get better so its good critique
