I've made maps and I've made flags. Never have the twain met. This seems odd...

Mine usually take on various colours and layouts, but I ussually have the Spiked Wheel in all of them:

Keep posting your flags guys! Thanks for sharing. This could become a nice little resource.

I like Rythal's flag okay, but it would be better with less jpeg artifacting.

What tools do folks use for convexillology? I mostly use inkscape, 'cause a lot of the available vector images of flags on the net are in svg and illustrator often does bad things to svg.

I steal a lot of elements from existing flags. I also found the Red Bull icon on wikipedia and used that once.

For my entry in a Challenge last year, I had to make a whole bunch of flags:

The "Occital Nations" were altered European powers, so I at least had a guideline on those flags, but I worked up the rest in a few hours. Looking at it again, it's pretty clear that I overused the "white figure on coloured background"; in my defense, though, I was trying to make them simpler.

For our D&D campaign, we let our players make up their own flags for their groups (heralds i suppose). Hubby hasn't asked me to come up with any flags otherwise.
I used Old Guys Realistic Coastline Tutorial modified for PSPx3.
How's It Looking? - Please provide me with your input.

Here are two old ones I picked up off the internet (I neglected to keep a lot of my older images when I upgraded to Windows 7 x64), the second one is a seal. They were used in conjunction with fictional states that were created in Simcity 4.

Default This is a cool thread

Here are a couple flags ive prototyped for Paidixira. These will either bee shipping company flags or country flags; it's up in the air. what I will say is that in general, designing flags really tickles the storycrafter in me. I always want to think of a flag around a story for the state, so every one can be either unique or aptly influenced.

It's not "my" map-making project, but i did make some maps and flags for the open-source game project UFO:AI. The following are my favorite 6.

    I've designed many, many flags.

    Some of my personal favorites:
