I have been drawing maps for d10 and d20 systems with pen and paper for about a decade now. I became interested in digitally-rendered maps recently, and found this site. I have some basic vector and rasterized image editing experience, although most is self-taught. I use Inkscape and GIMP exclusively. I used to use the Adobe Suite, but found it too hefty for my meager computer resources. I switched to open-source (and much lighter) programs and found they easily meet and exceed my needs.

I currently play in a mid-level, 5-6 person D&D 3e campaign, which I would like to make maps for. We focus mostly on combat, so producing maps that make for interesting battle scenarios are a goal.

Cheers!
