If anyone really wants to use our maps, the thing to do is get FM8. Then one can see the maps in all of their full quality (or incompetence, depending upon point of view) and also change anything one doesn't like.
It's not expensive, and it's an excellent program. I use all kinds of things: Dundjinni (unfortunately no longer available), CC3/DD3/CD3 (newly acquired again), FM8, The Gimp, Paint.NET, and I'm considering PhotoShop CS5. But of all of them, FM8 is the one I'd miss most.

Well, I'm sure you've heard that old adage: "Truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense."So ... I agree that your system is a logical one and one that I'm aware of in a number of towns that developed in just about the way you describe it. Did the majority develop that way? Maybe. I don't know. But if so, an impressive minority found good reasons to do things differently.
