If you're stuck without any clouds you like, an extremely broad source of mediocre cloud photos is Google Maps. Pick a random road, go to street view, and pan up. On the positive side, it's always daylight :-) and they don't take pix in truly lousy weather. On the down side, the resolution is low, roads are often surrounded by trees and power lines (tip - try rural interstate highways), and they like high sun angles, so there's usually a big ol' sun-glare in the picture. Chances of clear skies are probably even worse (for our purposes) than a random day at the location, and evenly overcast days won't do us any good either. AND the photos are copyrighted, so one ought not use them in public (like this contest...). If you are desperate for some fluffy randomness for your own use though , there's fourteen gazillion clouds to choose from.
It's been a while since I've done any mapping, but this challenge has got my creative juices flowing.
Anyway, are we 'limited' to earthly clouds? Could I use images of nebulae clouds for the base images?
I think so. They are still clouds after all.

I'm sort of with you Chashio - this was my brainstormed idea and I haven't even had a chance to do anything either

Ha. Yeah, can't say how many times THAT has crossed my mind. I half intend to start making epilogue entries... what I would have entered in a given contest :-). Meaningless, but for the chance to express those just-too-late ideas.
As we approach the deadline, everyone scrambles to get in their final updates (or last minute submissions). So many great maps! This will be a tough one to vote for. It's anyone's game.
I just finished mine... i doubt im in the game I joined way late!
Don't close the challenge before 12! I almost have the lighting i've been struggling over done.
