    just a small update to keep myself working on this. i tried creating a good transition blur for the desert/Savannah, nothing was really working. so for right now i just have kind of a light erased edge (don't know if you can tell). i also edited the forest features in areas where it wasn't necessary to have detailed forest.
    As for the mountains i've been playing around with several different things but i can't really find anything i like in the sense of showing a better depiction of comparative height. but really i don't know if its just because i got used to them but i really don't mind the iso mountains much. but yea heres the update and any further comments greatly appreciated. and also an early thank you to this place for how much help it's been.

    Ice, check out a thread started by Karro titled "Playing with Mountains" There is a sample of some mountains I made of "top down" mountains that started on a test map. If you like the style, I can work with you to help you emulate them on your map and I think they would fit really well with the rest of your textured surface.
