I feel strangely well-suited to help you, at least with some of your interests. My first degree was in history and archaeology, and my second (which I've just finished) in urban planning. Unfortunately, without knowing what it is that you want to do, it is difficult to give any real advice. If you're not sure what you want to do yet (I remember being like that) I can only suggest trying as many things as possible. And asking people on websites like this, of course.

However, you sound like you're interested in concepts of place, in which case landscape architecture might be better - studying urban planning is basically learning to be a bureaucrat (at least, that's here in Oz; I don't know what America is like). If your interest is the history of place, then history should be fine, but be aware it only really leads to academia.
