The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

You will find all sorts of tutorials here, for all sorts of programs, admittedly most of them are for Photoshop and the Gimp. Following these tuts will be the best way to get from here to there imoho. If you want to get there quicker, I would suggest that you start a WIP (Work In Progress) thread with your work as soon as you start a new map. This is indeed the best way to get access to the vast knowledge base on all things mappy that the membership brings to the Guild. Don't be shy about asking questions either because we are a very freindly group and the advice you will receive will get you there much faster.
