Nicely done, veracusse! Polish that style, and you can be illustrating geographical articles.

And to answer your question, Zarylin, the colors of icons showing progression of settlement works well -- the difference between black, purple, and blue though are slight enough to be confusing. Tough to show a time sequence when the members of each set are interspersed, so your method is about as good as could be devised.

Beoner, yours looks like it DID come from an article or textbook. Very nice reference style; if the mythical :-) article title were something like Tributaries of the Amazon, the focus is perfect.
