Hello,
I have a 14 year old son who is fixated on cartography and map making. He is a very good artist but at the moment he is stuck because he is trying to figure out how to insert street names, pond names, building names, etc. into an imaginary 1840 city map. I sound like a nutcase mother. His map is A17 size paper, with tiny blocks etc and streets. He has seen these gorgeous "realistic" imaginary maps on the internet and he wants to add to his own map without being limited by the scale of the paper. He thinks it is do-able via software of which he knows nothing. This is a boy who is really passionate about map making and spends most of his time thinking about various scenarios for his imaginary city.

If anyone could help out by posting suggestions for a mother driven crazy by her son's creative energy, please help. Is there anyone who is willing to be a mentor for questions on map making, globe making? Thank you.
