Map The Lands of Dharn - fantasy map

    Hey guilders,

Here's a map I did for practising some pure black and white style. As usual, I started with some simple idea on mind then finally ended up with a complete detailed map . Digitally hand-drawn in PS.

Very nice look and feel to this Max. There's just something about a clean black and white image/map.
I guess it might be the clarity. I quite like the legend at the bottom.

    What I liked:
-Most of all, the lettering. Is that a font, or did you letter it yourself? Either way, it looks great.
-The little inset pictures - nice touch.
-The tufts of grass that help fill up what would otherwise be empty glaring space, without being too crowded.

    What I didn't like:
-The broken coastal wave lines: they distract too much from the land in my opinion.
    ...and I guess that's it.

Can't rep you yet, so have a like and rating instead.

Really beautiful work! I really like that you used line weight to indicate a direction of light a bit. Well executed!

Nice and simple, i like it. I had a moment until i saw that there are forests on that map. What i especially like are those circles that showcase landmarks...nicely done and cool idea!
And i have to agree with Diamond on the "What i didn't like" point.

Yea actually, that's always the challenge about a B&W map.

I'm partial either on the waterlines. Next time I'll try somehting closer to the coasts or maybe some kind of horizontal ripples to see if that works better. I used a font for the labels, spent a bit of time to find the proper one with a handwritten feel without being too fancy.

If I had posted earlier, I would have done a post a lot similar to the one Diamond did... except that the broken coastal ring doesn't bother me that much. And I like the frame, it makes me think a bit of a Thierry Ségur kind of drawing .
Can't rep you of course... but you already knew that, right?
