Wip First real mapping attempt - Edrion

    Hey guys,

Been lurking around this forum on and off for quite a while, practicing the various tutorials, and now I think I'm ready to give it a real go with my first (proper) map. This is for an upcoming fantasy novel I'm writing, very very loosely based on the Viking invasion of Britain. I've mostly followed Tear's Saderan tutorial with a bit of Ascension's Atlas style used for the ocean. Only one river added so far while I get to grips with the work path method!

Finding this a lot of fun and this forum is invaluable

Done a bit more work on this, colouring, rivers and forests. Not too happy with the forest placement yet though!

Great work there, I've followed the Saderan tutorial as well, looks like you're also successful with it.

It looks pretty awesome, but try making the rivers with a brush or pencil or just erase the land if it's on a separate layer from the water, try making more motions to make it a bit more realistic, because this way (I'n guessing you used line/curve) and looks a bit fake (just my opinion). Otherwise it really looks amazing, forests aren't that bad if you ask me and the mountains honestly my favorite... still trying to get that effect on my maps...

Looking really nice so far. Nice execution of the Saedran tutorial.

Very good looking map, you did a great job on the mountains and I especially like "Ireland". The only thing I'd change would be the rivers, but someone else covered that in a previous comment.
