Hello cartographers
We are looking for assistance in creating maps for publication in a touring guide to outback Australia. For those who don't know the story, Burke and Wills were the first to cross Australia from south to north, travelling from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The guidebook has been written by a PhD student who is THE expert on all things Burke and Wills. The plan is for the book to have three kinds of maps
- pseudo historical maps, showing the route taken by the expedition (about 20 of these)
- accurate maps of the country today, showing the driving route (about 20 of these)
- locality maps - detailed maps of townships or national parks showing where to find points of interest (about 15 of these).
The author has the skills to produce the maps himself, but is running out of time to meet the publishers deadline. We are therefore hoping to pay a modest sum to someone to help by creating the background maps, using either ArcGIS or OpenStreetMap. The expert author can then add the layers showing the track, campsites etc.
Please post to this thread if you are interested
