Default September 2014 Challenge: Key Scrolls

I'm going to make 6 old grungy parchment scrolls for the challenge.

I'm making them mainly as elements for battlemap/tactical maps (library, bookshop, home desks/shelves, etc.), but they could also be used as decoration/embellishments for world and regional maps, player handouts, etc.

They're made with plain multi-purpose paper, crumpled up (for creases), then flattened out and stained with tea and coffee, the edges rubbed with my finger to make them ragged/torn, and then baked in the oven on an old blackened cookie sheet. I have a collection of odds and ends from jewelry-making and polymer clay projects, which I pilfered from for the keys and twine.

Here's some WIP shots. 3 done, 1 drying, 2 more to go!

Thanks! Glad you like them. This is my first time making anything like this, and it's quite a lot of fun!

Now to photograph them individually, cut them out (into transparent background PNGs), and do a little bit of editing (colour/texture adjustments, grunge-up the keys, etc.).

Im going to see if I cant use these that you provided as textures on 3d models! or at least use them as references! Ive been wanting to make a 3d set of these and books and other library/scholarly things for my table top generator. I really like the process you took, and those will double really well this year for Halloween!

Thanks. I hope they work out well for your texturing and/or reference.

Beautiful scrolls Neyjour! Having the key on them is a cool little twist.
