I like the mountains as they are. It's a great map, and they fit well with the style.

Eh, the lines on the mountains are a little too sharp compared to the rest of the map...not really sure either.

I like those mountains, but you'd have to change the trees to match.

    Wip Done!

I am completed with the September Challenge with this post!

I took everyone's suggestions into account, and fixed the mountains. I like these much better, more in line to the existing terrain and forests. I realized I drew shading on the mountains in pen in the previous version, whereas on everywhere else in the map, the pen is used for outline only. After that, I decided to create a top down view of the mountains, applied Xara bevels and 80% transparency on all objects so they were very subtle and allowed the background to show through.

Added final text blocks and labels, I created the Legend with main title, my byline and CC license too. I gave it a slight color change to the parchment and a halo shadow to enhance it. Threw in the flourishes to give the legend something more. The border uses tapering in and out outlines with a gritty texture, (looking very hand drawn...) and added the diamonds for scale references (about 12.5 miles apart.)

I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out. The challenge required individual style, and though I use many styles and many tools for my work. Using my own hand-drawings is about as unique and individual as I can get.

    That's it, I'm done!

PS: Dang! It looks one of my river labels moved while changing the mountains, and the Storm Isle label didn't make it within the border, so I'll fix that too, I will re-upload the corrected version tomorrow...

It's great job GP (as usual). But I agree with Valarian, I think the hills need to be changed to match the same top-down perspective as everything else.

But it's your map and if you like them that way that's OK too.

Yeah, as soon as I typed "I'm completely done!" - I really started to think about those hills. The hills worked before I placed the top down mountains. So I'll fix the hills to be small top-downs, and finish this map once and for all.

Thanks for the praise everyone - I've seen some old maps that inspired the text labeling at the points of interest.
