Just got back here after taking about a years break from the whole cartography thing. Recently been playing Dnd with friends and playing as the dugeon master, have been looking for more exciting ways to paint the world for the players. This is a step up from the hand-drawn maps I used to do. Followed a couple tutorials on gimp and used it to make a first draft of a map. I am going to post in a minute or so, another map that is more of what I had in mind, using the same techniques. It isn't perfect but tell me what you think:

The most important thing is that I used the 'brustles' and 'chalk' brush tool for making forests. How can I do it better? I'm not sure I love them :/
