I don't own CC but is it possible the file is too big ? either in pixels or bytes

Also, PNG is a terrible format size-wise, your better off with JPEG unless you need the transparency. Just make sure you keep the original somewhere.

file ext is bmp and I saved it as png,
well right there is the problem

you can NOT just rename a *.png to a MS bit map " *.bmp" file

    that WILL cause major problems

just changing the file extension will NOT convert the image type

    if you WANT a bitmap
then resave it AS a bit map file

and png is a GREAT file format
it is compressed unlike the Microsoft bit map ( bmp)

    and it is LOSSLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    jpg is a horrible format
the compression it uses will PERMANENTLY remove information and will ADD nasty artifacts

now a png file will be bigger than a jpg
jpg tosses INFORMATION from the image into the trash can

I think Azelor did simply mean that PNG may not compress as well as jpg, and if CC3 has a file size limitation on imported objects, that might be part of the problem. 30 MB should be well within the limitations, though, and PNG is a preferred format for CC3.

    Select a sheet and Label
Click menu > Draw > Insert File
Click on your map (normally the top left corner) and drag the image until it's the size you want

You can only import bmp and png into CC3, and you won't be able to manipulate the image itself, only use it as a background.
